Kathryn Sauvé

Acrylic, Mixed Media

Artist Statement

Kathryn is a contemporary abstract artist who works mainly in acrylics and mixed media.

Her process is intuitive, playing with paint and materials and allowing the artwork to unfold and emerge. The sights, sounds and scents combine to create special locations and memories that resonate within us. Kathryn’s travels across four continents have led her to realize that you can find a sense of place wherever you are.

As well as having studied at the Ottawa School of Art, Toronto School of Art and Algonquin College, Kathryn has participated in many workshops with independent professional artists across North America. Her work is in collections across Canada, the US, Europe and India.

Kathryn has been exhibiting artwork locally for the past several years and is a member of the Kanata Civic Art Gallery. She is also an active member of various local art communities.

“My art is inspired by the places we hold in our hearts and our memories, as well as the spaces we want to imagine. I paint the emotions we feel when we connect with a space, whether it’s a physical, sentimental or intellectual space.”
