Biography

Using bold strokes and vibrant colours, Anne seeks to reinterpret communities and the environments in which we live through her paintings. Anne Scanlan was born and raised in Toronto, On. She graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies and B.Ed at the University of Toronto. Upon graduating, she taught high school in Barrie, On., the UK  and Ottawa. Her work captures the beauty of what surrounds us -- from  local city scapes and children playing to vibrant floral images. Her work is influenced by a love of the outdoors. Anne’s most recent works are large-scale urban landscapes that combine fabric collage and chalk. Her unique style, vibrant palette, and uplifting imagery offer the viewer a joyous escape into a delightful world.       

Anne currently divides her time between Education and Art.
