Artist’s Statement
Doreen Hardiman is an artist who has drawn and painted most of her life. Public acceptance of her work and awards for her paintings has been very gratifying. Her paintings hang in private collections in Canada and abroad and in the corporate collection of the City of Ottawa.
She feels that in these days of economic uncertainty, frightening world events and political absurdity there is a need for aesthetic tranquillity. To be able to look up from one’s work at home or office on a particularly harried day and lose one’s self, if only for a moment, in the peaceful reminders of the world’s beauty may be beneficial to your psyche.
Since she paints according to her mood, her painting style may be abstract, expressionistic or realistic, serious or whimsical. Various media will be used and a variety of subjects will be painted.
